How do I reassemble my StudSensor™ scanner after I've taken the screw out of the back and disassembled the tool?

In most cases, you can get the tool working again after the screw in the back has been removed. To put the scanner back together, start by taking the battery cover off and removing the screw again, then lay the unit flat on a table. Carefully take the top half of the cover off revealing the circuit board inside. Make sure everything is aligned correctly and looks square. Check that the battery spacer (the little plastic part with two holes in it) is sitting in front of the battery contacts. The small hole is the "+" and the larger hole is the "-". Once everything is in place, put the top of the unit back on. There are two tabs at the very top of the case cover that need to go in first in order for the top to fit flush with the bottom case. Make sure all the seams are flush, then replace the screw. Replace the battery and test it. Depress the power button and hold. All the LEDs should flash and the green "Trucal" light should remain on. Test it on your wall.
